Last Updated: April 29, 2020

This Cookie Policy explains how we use cookies and other similar technologies to help us ensure that our Services function properly, prevent fraud and other harm, and analyze and improve the Services in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

This Cookie Policy is an integral part of our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Any capitalized terms used and not otherwise defined below have the meanings assigned to them in the Terms of Service. Any reference to “Users” in this document means a reference to our Customers, Authorized Users, or visitors of the Website.

1. What are Cookies?

When you interact with our Platform, we strive to make that experience easy and meaningful. When you come to Lokalise Website, our web server sends a cookie or cookies to your computer. Cookies are files that web browsers place on a computer’s hard drive and help us with things like understanding how users and visitors use a website, remembering a user’s login details, and storing website preferences.

2. What cookies do Lokalise use

TypeDescription
Essential CookiesEssential cookies are necessary for the basic functionality of the Platform. These cookies are a website’s basic form of memory, used to store the preferences selected by our Users. As the name implies, they are essential to the Platform’s functionality and cannot be disabled by Users. For example, an essential cookie may be used to prevent a User from having to log in each time they visit a new Website page in the same session.

Performance and Functional Cookies

These cookies allow us to remember the user's preferences and provide some additional services through the Platform (for example, keeping you logged in). These cookies are not absolutely required for the operation of the Platform but make the Platform more convenient to use. For example, without these cookies, certain functionalities (like videos) may become unavailable.

Analytical and Customization Cookies

These cookies allow us to track a User’s activity on the Website, count the number of visitors, measure session durations and similar parameters, collect information about search queries and text the User enters when using our Website, in order to optimize the Website and improve its operation.

3. How does Lokalise deal with data collected through cookies

If you visit our Website for the first time, a cookies consent message is the first message you are likely to see and this prompts you to the fact that cookies are used and active on our Website. In most cases we ask you about your consent to install cookies. This does not apply only to the strictly required cookies which are, for example, technical cookies.

Data that we collect from the cookies is processed in accordance with the provisions of our Privacy Policy. For instance, this data can be accessed by our employees, subcontractors and affiliates. Some of our subcontractors and affiliates are located outside the European Union. We transfer data to them based on standard contractual clauses adopted by the European Commission when necessary. Please see our Data Processing Addendum for details.

We also use the services of Google Analytics when installing cookies and using data collected through them. The information is depersonalized and is displayed as numbers, meaning it cannot be tracked back to individuals. Using Google Analytics we can see what content is popular on our Website and this helps us give you more of the things you enjoy reading and watching. We use Google AdWords code to see which pages helped lead our site visitors to fill out forms on our website. This allows us to make better use of our paid search budget. We use remarketing codes to log when visitors view specific pages, allowing us to provide targeted advertising in the future.

Thus, we also may transfer such data to Google LLC and its Affiliates which is a group of companies residing in the USA. They adhere to the requirements of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield. In order to control collection of data for analytical purposes by the Google Analytics service, please visit the following web page: Google Analytics Opt-Out Page.
